Basecamp Imperial Pilsner is Almanac’s latest fresh beer release, and is the first Almanac can to be included in the Lazy Dog Beer Club. Each quarter Lazy Dog Restaurants release a themed pack of limited edition beers. We were tapped to create a label design for their Bushcraft themed set, taking the subject of the outdoors and camping as the inspiration for the design.
Our friend Ferdinand Göldner, aka Wonderful Mystical, first came to our attention when he photographed our Blue Wheel Playing Cards. Since then we’ve hired Ferdinand to capture many of our products, and most recently he took it upon himself to take some awesome photos of our Green Wheel Playing Cards. Check out more of Ferdinand’s work at WonderfulMystical.com.
As children of the ‘80s, we grew up with the movie Gremlins and were thrilled to partner with Mondo to produce an officially licensed set of three enamel pins commemorating the movie. The series includes Gizmo in three iconic scenes including Showtime (Gizmo sings for the first time while playing the piano), Uh Oh (Gizmo hiding inside the motorcycle helmet), and Beep Beep (Gizmo behind the wheel in the Malibu Barbie toy convertible).
The Gremlins soft enamel pins all include a copper die cast finish, and heavy duty rubber backing clasps. Available individually or as of set of three at a special rate. Check out photos of the pins below by the talented Wonderful Mystical. The Gremlins pins are now available in the DKNG Store.

We’re always keeping an eye out for great photography of our products, and one day came across these photos on Instagram and were immediately smitten. German photographer Ferdinand Göldner, aka Wonderful Mystical, is a big fan of playing card art and crafted a beautiful backdrop for our Blue Wheel Playing Cards in his photography below. Since then we’ve hired Ferdinand to capture many of our newest products, like our Universal Monsters enamel pins. Stay tuned for more wonderfully mystical work from Ferdinand as we continue to partner with him in the future.
Just in time for Black Friday is our new deck of Black Wheel Playing Cards! They’re the same great quality as the originals, manufactured by the United States Playing Card Company, and with a fresh new color palette. With the help of our friends Dan & Dave at Art of Play, we designed a completely original deck from the tuck case to the face cards and everything in between, now available in your choice of black, red, blue, or green. The tuck case includes an embossed black-on-black foil stamp on thick kraft paper and a new complementary color palette for the cards. These are standard Poker size playing cards with an air-cushion finish, just like the Bicycle cards you’re used to from the U.S. Playing Card Co. Check out closeup images of the cards below. ‘Black Wheel’ decks are now available in the DKNG Store.
We love designing labels for all of the limited, special edition beers that Almanac creates, but we also love the beers that are most likely to find a home in a bottle shop near you. That’s why we’re happy to introduce Almanac’s new line of 16oz fresh beers that will be available year round, and with nationwide distribution. LOVE Hazy IPA, LOUD! Hazy DIPA, and VIBES Pilsner. Printed on metallized label stock, these super sparkly cans also contain a not-so-hidden word inside each geometric pattern. You can also try these new beers on draft at Almanac’s two bay area taprooms.

In recent years we’ve had the pleasure of working with Outside Lands music and arts festival in San Francisco, and this year we were happy to add a new character to the festival’s official mascots. Joining Golden Gate Park Ranger Dave is now Ranger Ruth! Check out our illustration of Ruth here, along with some photos of how the real life character made her inaugural appearance at the festival.
The Decemberists just took the West Coast by storm and we were happy to be tasked with creating a poster for the tour. We were inspired by Pacific Northwest road-tripping and the giant Sequoias and Redwoods that line the coast.
The poster is an 18” x 24” three color screen print on French Speckletone Madero Beach 100lb cover stock, with a signed and numbered edition of 950. Check out our initial concept sketch below along with close-up photos of the finished prints, as well as a video documenting our process of designing the poster. The Decemberists tour poster is now available in the DKNG Store.

DKNG recently had the opportunity to take on a project that was a first for us…mural design. The challenge was to develop a multi-panel mural for Almanac Beer Co.’s new San Francisco taproom that tied into their existing brand, while also complimenting the new space without overpowering it. The solution turned out to be two separate murals - a large abstract mural featuring the Almanac logo, and a smaller, more detailed mural, featuring an isometric cityscape that incorporated both the Mission district of San Francisco where the taproom is located, along with existing Almanac branding and iconography from their fresh beer series. The murals also incorporate the color palette of the space including the natural wood tones of the bar and seating as well as the blue-gray tones of the hand-finished plaster walls.
Check out our initial sketches for the murals below along with photos of the finished taproom. We also created a time-lapse process video of the awesome team from New Bohemia Signs painting the murals by hand. Their team of four sign painters spent six long days hand painting every inch of the murals! The Almanac San Francisco Taproom is now open at 2704 24th Street.
