Back to the Future Poster and Variant

We’ve always been big fans of the Back to the Future franchise and hoped to someday have the opportunity to illustrate the iconic DeLorean from the film. Thanks to Mondo, that dream came true in the form of both vinyl packaging and now two ultra large 36” x 24" limited edition screen prints.

The art itself is inspired in many ways by the depictions of the DeLorean that came before it. We knew that a profile view of the car has been interpreted by countless artists in many beautiful ways, so our goal was to create a new take on this viewpoint by zeroing in on the detail of the time machine, both exterior and interior through the open gull-wing doors, all while having fun with including a few easter eggs. Creating the main edition of the poster in a neon 80’s color palette was a must, but just in case it wasn’t colorful enough, we created the variant edition on rainbow foil for an extra shimmery effect.

Each posters is a 36” x 24” four color screen print. The main artist edition of 60 prints is signed and numbered by DKNG on 100 lb. white cover stock. The variant has a super limited edition of 35 and is printed on 10pt metallic rainbow foil. Both prints are available in the DKNG Store on Monday, January 7, at 10am PST. Limit one of each poster per customer, these prints are limited editions that will not be reprinted. Check out close up photos of the finished prints below. DKNG + Mondo Official Gremlins Pin Set

As children of the ‘80s, we grew up with the movie Gremlins and were thrilled to partner with Mondo to produce an officially licensed set of three enamel pins commemorating the movie. The series includes Gizmo in three iconic scenes including Showtime (Gizmo sings for the first time while playing the piano), Uh Oh (Gizmo hiding inside the motorcycle helmet), and Beep Beep (Gizmo behind the wheel in the Malibu Barbie toy convertible).

The Gremlins soft enamel pins all include a copper die cast finish, and heavy duty rubber backing clasps. Available individually or as of set of three at a special rate. Check out photos of the pins below by the talented Wonderful Mystical. The Gremlins pins are now available in the DKNG Store

Mondo Spider-verse Poster

After years in the making, we're excited to unveil our most recent collaboration with Mondo - two posters cataloging the history of the Spider-verse and the many incarnations of Spider-men, women, and characters that have existed throughout the history of the franchise. Both posters are timed editions that go on sale on Thursday, March 23, at 10am CST exclusively through the Mondo web store. The sale runs until Sunday, March 26, at 10am CST. The number of prints purchased during the three day sale will determine the edition size.

The regular edition (yellow) and variant edition (blue) each feature their own unique groupings of 64 characters from the Spider-verse with 75 unique characters across both posters. The regular edition is a seven color 24" x 36" screen print while the variant edition adds an eighth color and is also 24" x 36". Check out the video below introducing the posters as well as a gallery of all the Spideys below. You can also check out Alamo Drafthouse's blog Birth. Movies. Back to the Future Trilogy Box Set

In 2015 we arrived in the future that Marty McFly visits in Back to the Future Part II, and to commemorate the historic date, Mondo released a first ever box set of the musical score from all three films. We were thrilled to collaborate with them on the package design which, as Mondo explains, was the first of its kind:

“We're thrilled to unveil a 6-LP vinyl box set for the trilogy for one of the most celebrated film scores of all time, with music fully restored from original master recordings under the supervision of composer Alan Silvestri. This marks the first time the score has ever been made available in a box set in any format, the first time the original film score has been available on vinyl and includes never-before-released tracks from the sequels. The collectible packaging for the box set was designed by DKNG Studios, highlighting the DeLorean’s iconic fire trails in each film’s setting. Screenwriter Bob Gale contributed exclusive liner notes for the box set.”

Jurassic Park Mondo Poster

With Jurassic World opening in theaters last week, Mondo Gallery in Austin opened their latest exhibition “When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth”, showcasing new works based on the Jurassic Park films. Our contribution to the show is a Velociraptor infographic, designed as if it existed within the park itself. The poster is packed with info specific to the Michael Crichton/Steven Spielberg version of the dinosaur which also makes an appearance in the latest film in the Jurassic series.

"Jurassic Park: Velociraptor" is a 24” x 18” four color screen print on Curious Metallics Lustre paper with an artist edition of 60 prints. Check out our initial sketch below as well as closeup photos of the finished print. The poster is now available in the DKNG Store.

Wizard of Oz Mondo Posters

We’re excited to announce the release of our Wizard of Oz posters in three versions. The prints feature Dorothy's carriage drawn by The Horse of a Different Color as she enters the Emerald City. You can check out the scene from the film below. When approaching a film as iconic as The Wizard of Oz, we wanted to find a unique focal point beyond the main iconography of the film. The Horse of a Different Color occupies just a brief scene, but proved to be a great subject for a print series that includes the three different colors - purple, red, and yellow - that the horse takes on in the film.

The poster is a four color screen print on French Speckletone Starch Mint paper with a super limited artist edition of 20 of each color. Each print shares three ink colors with the fourth screen customized to provide the color change for each of the three horses. Check out our initial sketch below as well as close up photos of the finished prints. The Wizard of Oz posters are now available in the DKNG Store.
