Last week we had the pleasure of attending our first Adobe 99u Conference and we had a blast, both as attendees and teaching our workshop on Creative Collaboration. Although the 90-minute workshop flew by, we were blown away by the creativity and quick thinking exhibited by all the participants. You can see a few of the completed projects below along with a few other shots from our week in NYC. Thanks to everyone at Adobe for hosting us and to all the amazing participants in our workshop. Hope to see you next year!

When Adobe launched Illustrator CC with its new ability to zoom in to your composition further than ever before, they commissioned us to create a hyper detailed illustration to demonstrate the new feature. That illustration of an astronaut inside his futuristic cockpit continues to make appearances in various Adobe tutorials including the current Illustrator launch screen. We're excited to share our latest Skillshare.com class which is now live! In this class you'll learn to design a cohesive icon series, inspired by your favorite movies. The idea behind the class was sparked by our poster celebrating Paramount Pictures’ 100th Anniversary, in which we designed 100 unique icons representing a movie from each year of the studio's history.
From sketching and concept development to final execution, we'll share how to distill complex subject matter into recognizable small-scale designs. You’ll learn how to:
- Use reference imagery to simplify a complex subject into a single image
- Create a limited color palette that works across a series
- Establish design rules to ensure consistency across your image set
From small-scale projects like buttons and pins to professional branding work where consistency is key, students will leave this class with an arsenal of design tools to utilize again and again. This class joins more than 10,000 classes on Skillshare, an online learning community where anyone can discover, enroll, or even teach a class in design, entrepreneurship, and more.

Join us Monday, October 5th, from 1:45 PM - 3:00pm, at this year’s Adobe MAX Conference where we’ll be discussing our creative process, including select case studies from our entertainment and commercial work, why concept development is essential to a successful design, the importance of taking risks, and staying passionate and positive, and the value of your portfolio: how a finished product proves your worth.
We’ll be creating a limited edition poster that our friends at Mama’s Sauce will be screenprinting live at Adobe MAX in October, and we want you to collaborate with us using Adobe Shape CC. We’ll be using some of the contributed artwork in a final poster design with the theme of “What inspires you to create?”
Visit the Adobe website for complete entry instructions. Mama’s Sauce will print a limited edition of 3,500 of these posters which will be available at Adobe MAX on October 5th, or shipped directly to you if you’re one of the first 100 people to submit a shape. In fact, we’ll be live printing one of the colors onsite at MAX, so if you’re attending, you can print your own copy on the spot!
