Dave Matthews Band

Electric City Art Print

In May of 2013, we created a poster for Dave Matthews Band for their show in Scranton, Pennsylvania, paying homage to the city’s moniker, “The Electric City”.  We went for a semi-literal interpretation of that name by creating a skyline comprised of varying sizes and shapes of lightbulbs, while also including some of the city’s historic landmarks.  Seasoned Scranton historians will recognize the first-of-its-kind electric trolley system as well as the famed “Electric City” rooftop sign.

We’re now pleased to introduce the Electric City art print which is an 18″ x 24″, four color screen print on French Construction Blacktop paper.  The print is now available online in the DKNG Store.  Check out a few close-up photos of the poster below as well as our initial sketch of the concept.  You can also learn more about Scranton, PA in the video below.

To kick off 2014, we had the pleasure of creating a gig poster for Dave Matthews' and Tim Reynold's January 15 performance in New Orleans. The poster was inspired by the city's traditional Mardi Gras beads and some of the more mystical icons of New Orleans history.

The poster is a three color screen print on French Speckletone Black paper. Check out a few closeup images of the print below as well as our initial sketch. The poster is now available in the DKNG store.

As promised, we are pleased to announce the release of our latest art print, 'Dive Bar'.  Based on our recent Alpine Valley gig poster for Dave Matthews Band, Dive Bar depicts a mystical watering hole hidden deep within the Wisconsin forest.  With a bar fashioned out of the giant husk of a tree trunk and fully stocked shelves, we’ll leave it up to the viewer to imagine who might have stopped by to quench their thirst.

The print is an 18″ x 24″ three color screen print on French Speckletone Starch Mint.  Check out a few close up photos of the print below including a few enhancements we made to the ink colors and contrast in the design.  Dive Bar is now available in the DKNG Store.

Alpine Valley in East Troy, Wisconsin is a magical setting, so we were excited to create a poster for Dave Matthews Band's performance at the picturesque venue.  We were inspired by their songs "Bartender", "Drunken Soldier", and their recent album "Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King", to create a mystical drinking hole hidden deep inside the Wisconsin forest.  With a bar fashioned out of the giant husk of a tree trunk and fully stocked shelves, we'll leave it up to the viewer to imagine who might have stopped at this spot to quench their thirst.

The poster is an 18" x 24" three color screen print on French Speckletone Starch Mint.  Check out a few close up photos of the print below.  A small number of these posters are now available in the DKNG store. We will also be releasing an art print version in the coming months.

Our latest poster for Dave Matthews Band for their show at the Toyota Pavilion at Montage Mountain in Scranton, Pennsylvania, pays homage to the city's moniker, "The Electric City".  We went for a semi-literal interpretation of that name by creating a skyline comprised of varying sizes and shapes of lightbulbs, while also including some of the city's historic landmarks.  Seasoned Scranton historians will recognize the first-of-its-kind electric trolley system as well as the famed "Electric City" rooftop sign.

The print itself is an 18" x 24", four color screen print on French Construction Blacktop paper.  A limited number of prints are now available online in the DKNG Store.  We will be releasing an art print version of the poster sometime in the near future. Check out a few close-up photos of the poster below as well as our initial sketch of the concept.  You can also learn more about Scranton, PA in the video below.

When we released our Dave Matthews Band Toronto poster, we mentioned that we'd be following it up with an art print edition.  We're now proud to announce the release of our Elk Art Print.  We've made some minor adjustments to bring out the warm Fall colors of the print and the art print edition is printed on French Speckletone Madero Beach paper.  It's a four-color screen print and is available in the DKNG store now.  Check out some closeup photos of the art print below.

Over the summer we had the opportunity to create a poster for Dave Matthews Band's stop in West Palm Beach, Florida.  We were thrilled to be invited back for more and we're excited to announce our new poster for their recent show in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

The poster is a four color print on Cougar Natural paper and was printed by our friends at The Half and Half.  We were inspired by cold Ontario winters and its wildlife including maple trees and elk.

The full edition size of the print is 575. However, our allotment is much more limited and will be available in our store early next week.  We are also creating a new process video for this poster which provides a glimpse into how we created some of the detailed elements of this print including the hundreds of branches and thousands of leaves.  Our design/illustration reference imagery, original sketch and close up photos of the finished print are below.

Just a heads up, we will be creating an art print version of this poster, which will include additional tweaks and details to make it extra special. We will most likely be releasing that print early next year.
