Emek on NBC’s “Last Call with Carson Daly”

January 8th, 2011 // Posted by Dan in Blog, Poster, Video

This is pretty awesome. Emek, one of the titans of poster art, was recently featured on NBC’s “Last Call with Carson Daly.” Let’s hope we see more poster artists getting national exposure in the near future.

Closing out 2010 in style: Phish’s New Year’s Run

December 29th, 2010 // Posted by Nathan in Blog, Poster

Phish’s ‘New Year’s Run’ is a staple of their annual touring schedule and we were thrilled to be asked to create a poster for their two-day stop in Worcester, Massachusetts. In the late 1800s, Worcester was known as the home of early ‘lunch wagons’ or dining cars that were eventually shipped all over the Eastern Seaboard. We decided to…

L.A. Gets Dangerous

November 20th, 2010 // Posted by Nathan in Blog, DKNG News, DKNG Work, Poster

Tonight, Aziz Ansari’s ‘Dangerously Delicious Tour’ hits The Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles. We had a blast creating a poster series for Aziz’s three-day stint in San Francisco, and we’re equally excited to have created a poster for his stop in our city. If you ever wanted a behind the scenes look at Aziz’s pre-show dressing room,…

Recently we had the honor of creating a poster series for Aziz Ansari’s Dangerously Delicious Tour. Last week he performed three days back to back at the renowned Fillmore in San Francisco. We were graciously asked to create a three part series to commemorate each night’s performances.

We wanted to create something that had the feel of a…

Less is more – 10 face melting minimalist designs

October 17th, 2010 // Posted by Dan in Blog, Inspiration, Poster

↳ Myth Busters by Ty Mattson

Minimalism is an art in and of itself. From an outside perspective, the final execution of great minimalism may seem like the easiest form of design. However, in my experience the time I’ve spent focusing on the minute and completely necessary arrangements of a minimalist design can take just as long a complex illustration.…

“The National” Poster

October 12th, 2010 // Posted by Dan in Blog, DKNG News, DKNG Work, Poster

Just in, the all new “The National” poster. The overprinting and half-toning in this poster proved to be a new challenge for us. That challenge would have been a regrettable burden if it wasn’t for the expertise of our trusted local printer Danny Askar.

The edition of 100 was hand screen printed with four colors. The poster will be…

Brilliant Coffee & Cigarettes poster

October 5th, 2010 // Posted by Dan in Blog, Design, Poster

Just came across this jewel the other day. I’m a sucker for ampersands, but when it combines concept and brilliant execution, then I am smitten. I’ve had some trouble finding the poster artist so if you are out there… well done good sir or miss. Hats off to you.

Far, Far Away

September 9th, 2010 // Posted by Brad in Blog, Design, Inspiration, Poster

Hey, check out these radical Star Wars prints designed by Andy Helms. You can buy them individually for your favorite film (expect the “Empire Strikes Back” posters to go quick), or you can buy the whole set (prequels not included). I think I’ll encase mine in carbonite to keep them mint. Printed on 8.5″‘-11″, Ewok-safe Epson Velvet Art…

Making of the FOTC Hollywood Bowl Poster

June 27th, 2010 // Posted by Nathan in Blog, Design, Poster, Process

↳ The finished poster: 5-color, 18×24 screen-print with split fountain.

Over the past 2 years we’ve had the privilege of working on a few posters for the Flight of the Conchords, and recently we created a poster for their show at the Hollywood Bowl.

CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT

For this poster our initial thought was to include…
