This past friday I celebrated my birthday by inviting my local friends to a BBQ at our home office. I was so excited to see how creative and generous our guests were with the amount of food, drinks and gifts they brought. Although the theme of the party was never officially established as being “Mexican”, some of the many… Continue reading »

Tim MacPherson creative photography

Posted by Dan // April 29th, 2010

Here are some very imaginative shots by photographer Tim MacPherson. When I came across them I instantly became nostalgic and missed the days as a kid when I would make forts out of chairs and sheets with my little sister. These shots take that notion to a whole new level. See larger versions of the photos at Designaside.com

This great stop-motion has been floating around for a little while but worth a look if you haven’t seen it yet. The use of unconventional materials is brilliant. It took home a 2009 Sundance award.

Alberto Seveso’s Varnish Photography

Posted by Dan // February 21st, 2010

While browsing Behance.net, I ran across these beautiful images. I wasn’t sure at first what I was looking at, but it reminded me of a snap shot of very condensed smoke. In fact, these are simply photographs of varnish dropping into a fish bowl. Enjoy.

I just discovered the incredible Japanese illustrator Shusei Nagaoka. His work ranges from album covers to movie posters to magazine graphics, all made in the 1970’s and 80’s. I hope to someday have the patience to reach this quality of rendering and detail. Below is a sample of his work.
