Blunt Graffix in Oregon invited us to be a participating artist in their upcoming group show “Dead Rockstars: A Tribute to the Mortal Gods of Sound“. We decided to explore the 27 Club, a meme regarding popular musicians who all died at the age of 27. What sparked the idea was the recent death of singer Amy Winehouse, the newest member to the 27 Club. After much thought we decided upon the four most legendary members; Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison and Kurt Cobain.

Coincidentally, Nathan and I are both 27. Let’s hope the Mayan’s are wrong, because we already feel a bit weird for choosing such a dark and ironically appropriate theme.

Each print is a mini 4.625″ x 5.375″ four color screen print with an edition of 200. They will be sold as a set which comes in a nifty jewel case that also displays a print of your choice upright in a desktop frame (See below).

Blunt Graffix’s show will begin on February 2 and our allotment of prints will be available in our online store most likely in mid to late February. Below are some shots of the entire set with the jewel case along with close up images of the actual prints.

Watch artist Miguel Endara create an illustration of his dad composed entirely out of 3.2 million ink dots. Simply stunning.

It’s finally here! After much anticipation, the new Mammoth art prints are in hand and ready to ship. This version is a color variant of the original, printed on 100 lb French Pop-Tone “Sno Cone” and has a limited edition of 200. They are available now in our online store.

It’s always been a dream of ours to create an Explosions In The Sky poster. So when we were asked to create one for their recent Minneapolis show, we knew we had to knock it out of the park. The idea behind the poster came from an interview in which the band was described as having a “Mammoth Sound”.

The poster is a 24″ x 18″ two color print screen print on 80 lb. French Speckletone “Sand”. We decided to also print an art print version (sans the text).

Below is an image of the art print, some close-up shots of the poster, as well as our original sketch of the design.  We also created a process video showing the creation of the design from sketch to completion. A limited number of prints are available in our store.

Every so often I run across an image and say to my self with complete jealousy… “Damn. I wish I came up with that.”

This is one of those very instances. The piece simply named “Fear” is by Verity Keniger, an illustrator from Edinburgh, UK.  Perhaps it’s a commentary on the fear of loneliness with the juxtaposition of the fear of commitment?
