Stiicks from Well Made

We’re excited to introduce a new framing option in the DKNG Store. “Stiicks”, from Well Made, are 4 thin strips of American hardwood embedded with several super-strong neodymium rare-earth magnets that sandwich what you’re hanging firmly in between. The top pieces mount to the wall, while the bottom weigh down whatever you are hanging. Swapping artwork with Stiicks is simple. Just lift the magnetic slat and put whatever you want in your artwork’s place before dropping the Stiick back on top – the magnets will automatically align the frame.

We now have Stiicks available in American Cherry and high gloss black and white in sizes for both 18″ and 24″ poster widths.  Stiicks ship in a standard poster tube, greatly reducing the shipping cost versus traditional framing.

Cool but I wouldn’t use them on any print I considered valuable.

I mean what effect does the wood and magnets have on the integrity of the print? Will it discolor the print in time? Do Stiicks leave indentation marks on a print?

I also would certainly not leave a valuable print exposed to the elements like that. I guess you could put the print in mylar and cut to fit, the magnets look strong enough to go through it.

Not trying to be a negative Nancy or anything, it’s a cool product, just not sure I would use it with anything other than a disposable print.

These certainly look cool. Replicates the Japanese “scroll” design quite well, minus the thread hanger on top. It certainly oozes an amount of style. If I were decorating an upscale office and didn’t mind laying down $40, I’d certainly consider them. For now, I’m in the “cheap plastic frames” market. :P

Well Made says:

Just a quick note, we use furniture grade lacquer, so there is no chance of discoloration of your prints. Also, the magnets are inserted without glue, below the surface, to protect your prints every step of the way!
