The 2013 Bonnaroo Music Festival is taking place this weekend in Manchester, Tennessee, and we had the pleasure of creating a poster for the event.  With hundreds of artists performing over the course of the four-day festival, we decided to turn to the great American road trip for inspiration and plastered an old Chevy station wagon with bumper stickers representing all of the festival headliners.  While we won’t be attending Bonnaroo ourselves, it looks to be one of their best lineups yet.

If you’re not lucky enough to be attending this weekend, we will have a small portion of prints that will go up for sale in our online store on Monday, June 17.  The poster is a four-color screen print on French Speckletone “Oatmeal” paper.  You can see a few closeup images of the poster below along with our initial concept sketches.

This is amazing !! Love your work.
Can I ask, is this all done on computer or on canvas? Can this be achieved in illustrator, and then be printed ?

Thanks !

Ian,

Everything was created in illustrator. So the artwork is a combo of vector shapes, gradients, and some gaussian blurs. The texture was created in Photoshop and placed in the file as a bitmapped tiff. We export each color layer manually to create four separate black and white files for printing.

Another great poster guys, and some great art direction too. The first sketch is really attractive, but I didn’t see anything representing music in the composition.

I’m so disappointed I wasn’t able to discover this before they were sold out. There’s no chance you guys will be releasing more is there?

Dan says:

Unfortunately the print is completely sold out. Since it was a limited edition we will not be reprinting it. You may have some luck finding it from third party vendors on ebay.com or expressobeans.com
