Launch LA is an annual trade show that features California lifestyle brands including clothing, accessories, and gadgets from a range of brands, artists, and designers. The event takes place at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica which is a dramatic industrial space at the Santa Monica airport.
For the 2013 show, we were tasked with creating the event poster which will also serve as the key art for this year’s branding. With the event taking place at an aviation hangar, and Launch’s unique paper plane icon, we decided to incorporate both into a squadron of paper airplanes soaring above the Santa Monica coastline.
We created 3 original sketches for the brainstorming process which you can view below along with a process video and close up shots of the physical print.

That glider y’all vectored, maybe the 4th or 5th you did, definitely my favorite from youth. Made on and tossed it up with a class, four / fifth grade maybe, it caught in some monster gust and I never saw it come down. Disappeared over the school fence and the houses beyond.
Also happens to coincide with the one time I actually sort-of believe I saw a UFO.
Nice work. Looking forward to your SkillShare.

The birds and water creatures are awesome. The whole water part is my favorite. Everything is great here though as usual. Thanks for the process stuff, my favorite to come across in RSS

I’m going to look for an old book on paper airplanes… The rest of my afternoon just got really busy.

Isn’t the paper airplanes design a complete rip off of Matt Stevens work?http://largetype.squarespace.com/blog/2010/12/21/new-work-to-resolve.html
