On Friday, March 9th, Gallery 1988 Melrose opened its second annual "Is This Thing On?" exhibit, where 100 artists created paintings, prints, sculptures and one-of-a-kind plush all based on their favorite comedians.

In addition, this year the gallery commissioned 9 different artists to pay tribute to "Weird Al" Yankovic, the greatest song parodist of all-time, by creating a career retrospective screenprint set, where each chronicle the major moments from the legend's career. We were fortunate enough to be one of the participating artists. We created a limited edition screen printed set celebrating Weird Al's song "White & Nerdy", a parody of Chamillionaire's "Ridin". To catch you up to speed, check out Weird Al's music video below:

We created four different color ways for the show, each a three color screen print, celebrating nerd culture through the eyes of Weird Al. The version printed on black paper was printed with metallic gold ink and has an edition of 80. We have a very limited amount of these prints now available in our online store. Below are images of the three other color ways along with some close up shots of the actual print for sale.
